What Google Trends does well, and when Queris is enough

Google Trends is free, needs no Google Ads account and shows how interest in a term develops over time and compared to other terms, according to Google's help pages as read on 2 November 2026. Time ranges run from the past hour back to 2004, regions go down to individual cities, and new demand shows up within minutes. What the curve never shows is a number: each data point is divided by all searches in the chosen region and period and scaled from 0 to 100. Terms with low search volume appear as 0, and the website compares at most five terms side by side.

Most people searching for a Google Trends alternative want precisely that number. Queris returns, for each keyword, estimated monthly search volume based on Google data, CPC, advertiser competition, the trend over the past 12 months and, on demand, keyword difficulty from 0 to 100. Up to 1,000 keywords per query, eight markets, lists with filters and CSV export. The free plan with 10 queries per month runs without a credit card, and paid plans start at €15 per month including VAT.

When Queris is enough as a Google Trends alternative

01

You need a number per keyword

Google Trends shows relative interest from 0 to 100. Queris shows estimated monthly search volume per keyword, plus CPC, competition and a 12-month trend. Read the figures as an order of magnitude: whether 50 or 5,000 searches sit behind a keyword decides whether a page is worth building.

02

You evaluate lists, not five terms

The Trends website compares five terms side by side. In Queris you paste up to 1,000 keywords per query, filter by search volume, CPC and keyword difficulty, and export the list as CSV. The same data is available inside ChatGPT and Claude through the Queris connector.

03

Trends shows your keywords as 0

According to Google's help, terms with low search volume appear as 0 in Google Trends. For niche keywords where 50 searches a month can be good business, Queris still returns an estimate. The free plan with 10 queries per month is often enough for that.

When Google Trends stays the better choice

01

You want to see how a topic develops over years

Google Trends goes back to 2004 and shows seasonal patterns across many years, say heating in October versus air conditioning in July. Queris shows monthly values for the past 12 months, nothing older.

02

You need real-time data, regions and cities

Trends data appears within minutes of an event, according to Google's help, and covers everything from worldwide interest down to individual cities. Queris covers eight markets, each nationwide, with no real-time data.

03

You compare brands or topics relatively

For comparing two to five brands, for rising queries and for breakout terms with more than 5,000% growth, Google Trends is the right tool, free and without an account. You do not need an absolute number for that.

[ THE MATH ]

The yearly math

Google Trends costs €0 a year, has no pricing page and needs no Google Ads account (as of 2 November 2026). Queris Pro with 100 queries per month, up to 100,000 keywords, costs €348 per year (€29 a month including VAT, cancel monthly). The €348 buys not a better Trends but a different answer: estimated monthly search volume, CPC and keyword difficulty per keyword instead of relative interest from 0 to 100. If direction is all you need, stay at €0.

[ FAQ ]

FAQ

Does Google Trends show the search volume of a keyword?

No. Google Trends shows relative search interest on a scale from 0 to 100. According to Google's help, each data point is divided by the total number of searches in the region and period, and the highest value in the chart gets the 100. How often a keyword is searched per month is not shown anywhere. Queris returns an estimate per keyword based on Google data instead.

Is Queris a free Google Trends alternative?

For the number per keyword, yes, with limits. The free plan includes 10 queries per month with up to 1,000 keywords each, so up to 10,000 keywords, no credit card required. Google Trends itself stays free and has no substitute for looking at years, regions and real-time interest.

How much does Queris cost compared to Google Trends?

Google Trends costs nothing and needs no Google Ads account (as of 2 November 2026). Queris starts free with 10 queries per month; Basic costs €15 for 25 queries, Pro €29 for 100 queries, so up to 100,000 keywords, and Business €49 for 250 queries, all per month including VAT and cancellable monthly. You are not paying for a better Trends but for search volume, CPC and keyword difficulty per keyword.

Why does Google Trends show 0 for my keyword?

Because Google Trends only shows data for popular terms. The FAQ on Trends data states that terms with low search volume appear as 0. That does not mean nobody searches for them. A keyword with 50 or 100 searches a month can be valuable in a niche and still stay empty in Trends.

Can Queris fully replace Google Trends?

No. Queris has no time series back to 2004, no real-time data, no cities and no worldwide coverage. Google Trends remains the right tool for all of that. Queris covers the part Trends does not: estimated search volume, CPC, competition and keyword difficulty for whole lists. Many people use both: Trends for the direction, Queris for the order of magnitude.
